The Dumble sounds. | Universal Audio Enigmatic 82 Overdrive Special [UAFX amps]

Universal Audio has done it again, this time packing all the magical Dumble tones into their new UAFX Enigmatic 82 Amp. Enigmatic allows you to customize your very own Dumble sounds, for that perfect edge of breakup tone or rich bold saturation.

Like all the other UA amp pedals, you get stereo ins and outs, a rich feature set, and tons of additional control with the UAFX Control App. Customize your preferred Dumble circuit (50- and 100-watt options), tone stack, and gain staging with a FET input stage, boost, and more!

Let’s take a look at the new Dumble in a box – the Universal Audio Enigmatic! The intro track was simply recorded with Enigmatic and a Strymon Volante, with a wide range of sparkly clean guitar tones and that magical ODS style saturation. Hear it in an extended sound samples section at the end of this video, and check out more about Enigmatic at https://www.uaudio.com/guitar-pedals.html

  • Question : Do the presets include reverb (Not on this pedal) Are you using the strymon during the control amp section awards the end? Could I use the dream 65 replacing the Strymon// or the Golden in front for reverb? Great pedal these are the tones clean guitarist think about..

  • Some serious buzzing happening. Assuming it wasn't the pedal, could you not have used a different guitar?

  • Is the Bluetooth connection the same disaster as the Dream? To date, there has been no useful update, despite the bold promises.

  • You've seem to have done a good job taming that high end. Other demos I've heard the top end is so poky. Similar thing that I've experienced using Tonex captures of their Dumble. But because it's a capture you can't really dial that top end out.

  • Ok, so i have had the pedal for about an hour. Here are my thoughts. If you don't like tweaking then forget this pedal. There are a lot of bad sounds to be had in this pedal. I'm going to put the time in but my initial reaction was this is going to be hard work. I may be wrong, but i think the percentage of people who won't get on with this pedal will be higher than those that do.

I also think that this pedal, more than any of the other UA amps, exposes the limitations of the app, especially if you are using the Ox Stomp. I found myself having to constantly switch between the two units which is a frustrating workflow. The app is fine for individual pedals but really doesn't work in a larger UAFX environment.

The pedal feels exactly the opposite to something like the Dream 65, which rewards the user with great tones with very little effort.

In summary, I'm very clearly sitting on the fence with this one. I will say one thing though, i think it will make a better pedal platform than the Dream.

    It's a funny one for sure. ????

  • Sounds awful, IMO. Even the Anderton guys had trouble pulling out a good sound with the Enigmatic. Appropriately named.

  • One thing is for sure. Being a pedalboard amp sim no longer means to really compromise. The quality of options now is outstanding. I personally view the amp sim category as probably the most exciting to be in right now.

  • Won't really go near UAFX because their app is so buggy and quality control issues of pedals being bricked during firmware updates.

  • Tim Pierce recently posted a video playing a Dumble amp that Carlos Santana used to own.. The thing sounded like it was alive.. I mean the sound was incredible ! I don't think a pedal can duplicate what I heard .. It might capture one aspect of what some Dumble amps sound like but there's a load of intangible stuff that you can't put your finger on that the Dumble amp that Tim Pierce demoed that was like the thing almost played itself .. It was different !!! ????
