The Guitar Amp we should ALL be playing – Vox Mini Superbeetle

With its Legitimate 60s looks, the Mini Superbeetle is too cool to pass up. But it’s not just about the looks – this amp packs a serious sonic punch. With Vox / Korg’s Nutube technology the Mini Superbeetle is not just for beatles fans. It takes pedals extremely well and the 10 inch Celestion speaker delivers a lot of tone!

The Vox MSB25 can be shiny and chimey like an AC30 but also flat and clean like a Fender Blackface Amp. Don’t be fooled by it only being 2 feet tall, this amp is a monster.

  • You and KDH make the most offbeat vids at least you can play and dont whine all day about Chapman Custom shop guitars or rate a Katana over a 6505.

  • I gave this little gem a run at Sweetwater a few months back and it was very surprising to say the least. It sounds the part and is definitely a nod to its AC series big Brothers, what truly surprised me was how incredible it sounded through a 2×12 Celestion Vintage 30 equipped extension cab. It was loud enough to do small venues and if you didn't know that it was solid state you would swear it was conventional vacuum tubes. While the gain is more classic oriented it does a decent job for Roadhouse blues and southern rock tones where it does not need to be like a distortion as much as a natural push of a tube amp breaking up. I ran a boss DD-2 through it and Holy mother of God it responded like a champ. It gave off great punk tones. For what it delivers and how articulate it is you would be hard pressed to find an amp in this price range that could compete.

  • This amp needs a depth control for the tremolo, but it's still a great amp! ???????? Let It Be, Loud!

  • Pretty amazing, thanks for the demo. However I’m really author this amp, being a couple years old now, that we’re just now hearing about it.????

  • Can the amp be used for recording without being plugged into a speaker ? Shame the head is not sold separately. I'd want a spare… I like to have two of each bit of gear I depend on, in case they are too quickly discontinued. Btw.. LET IT BE.. LEWD – an amp for uncouth 60s Garage and 70s Punk rockers.

  • Let it be loud! I try as hard as I can but I just can’t seem to bring myself to like these kinds of amps yet. These, the Tonemaster series… I dunno… I have been using a Fender Super Champ X2 for ten years now and it’s brilliant… But I’m really thinking I should finally upgrade to a Princeton Reverb and be done with it.

  • There are tons of these Vox Mini Superbeetle amps o the internet, used, for sale. Not a good sign.

  • Are all these comments written by the same person?
Just curious. They all read very much alike. Enlightened minds think alike.
    Just an observation.

  • Let it be…loud. Great video. Just found your channel today. I'll be visiting regularly. It's really a great amp. It was between that one and the AC10C1. I got the AC10 because there was one in stock at a local Guitar Center and the Superbeetle was backordered. My wife had seen them both and said the AC10 looked more "me" so I pulled the trigger. Have not looked back. I'll probably getting one of these soon as well. Best

  • Let it be…Loud! What a little gem of an amp, and my birthday is not far away so I can probably get away with it….. I am surprised that it doesn’t have a little switch to cut the volume down to domestic levels, it obviously wants to be turned up to let it have its voice. When I started playing, (1963) the expensive amps in the UK were all “solid state” by Selmer and Watkins, the Vox amps of the time were AC15 and AC30 and there were no Fender amps in the secondhand shops in Denmark Street. This is probably the amp I always wanted.

  • Just a quick question – there is another Superbeetle out there with "Audio" in the name that can act as BT speaker. Is that an alternative, too? Cause I read that the guitar through the Superbeetle Audio wouldn't sound that good.

  • Thx for this video, though the Superbeetle is not super new anymore. But I missed it somehow. I am a fan of the MV50 AC but I always thought of the MV50 to be missing some things, especially looks. And the Superbeetle has the looks and the sounds, as it seems. ????

  • I've had one since they first came out and love it! I put a Zoom G3Xn in front of it and no matter what I dial up it sounds great.

  • Nice demo !! Pretty dang cute little amp:) Sounds good, too.
Makes me miss my Pathfinder 15R i sold after a move to an apt.
Didn't need the money, i didn't have the room (kept 3 amps, sold 3,,,,sux).
It was a great little amp.
BTW, i like the Stanford,,,330 build with a 335 neck join.

  • I’ll take an AC4 or AC10 over this. AC10 has the same digital reverb and at least you can use it in a small venue or practice. This thing is the kind of amp that you’re embarrassed to admit you own if your over age 13. Does sound decent tho, I’ll give you that.

  • Good, interesting review, but what I don't quite understand is why the 50 watt head is paired with a 50 watt cab, but it is "hobbled" via intentional impedance to only 25 watts.
I own two of the 50 watt audio Superbeetles, and which are also paired with 50 watt speakers, but output at the max 50 watts.

  • Let it be! LOUD! I've had one of these little amps for a while now, and it's absolutely fantastic! I've used it for just noodling around at home, and for recording using the line out/ headphone jack and it always sounds great! My only complaint, is that that blue LED light that say's it's turned on, is INSANELY bright, to the point where I have to cover it up in order to see where the knobs are set on the amp.

  • When I first saw this amp I thought it was a gimmicky ‘Beatley’ thing. But when I played it I was blown away. Going to purchase one soon.

  • I’ve owned this amp, and also the MV50 AC, the Vox VX50 GTV, and the Vox VX50BA. All of them are nutube amps. Unless you want the aesthetics of this amp, I recommend the Vox VX50 GTV, It basically does what this does but way more. If you need a bigger speaker than the VX50, look out for the Cambridge which is basically the same but with a bigger speaker. Unless you really want the portable head specifically to hook up to different types of speakers, go with the VX50.

  • Let it be…LOUD! Great review of the amp. Maybe not for everyone, but certainly will earn i's place in the small amp world. Sounds fantastic. Great review. THANKS!

  • Let it be loud! Thanks for the review. This may be the little amp I need for my new mini music room. I assume my Gretsch TR will make a great partner

  • Iron Butterfly used the full size original Superbeetles as well their Guitar player Erik Brann used it combined with a Mosrite Venture’s (Aka the Mark II) and a Mosrite Fuzz to get that unique tone he had.

  • Gigged with it with two saxes bass drummer and a key board sounded super nice, plugged it up to a 2×12 cab went heavy on the gain and got some nice crunchy tones

  • I have this amp and it is killer. Reasonably priced too. I’ve gigged and rehearsed with it. It takes pedals super well. Does a great low gain/edge of break up sound. Love it. Would highly recommend for anyone, but even more for beginners as it can grow with your needs.
