  • Always a pleasure to look back your teaching. 10 min looking – work for mouth. Merci beaucoup Brett

  • Playing out of the chord shape, with or without passing tones, was a key to jazz great Charlie Christian’s playing. Modes are just the scale a chord, no matter how complex, fits into. Understand the chord and it’s relation to major scale or minor scale and you understand the mode even if you don’t know the name. Hendrix uses a similar approach…chords come first as the foundation. The chords fit within a key. The key of a major or the modes of d Dorian or e locrian all have a fixed set of chords based on harmonization of the set of notes within that key/mode. And punk does have a key

  • That definitely was not like hendrix soloing.. not even close.. I think papa has close rhythm techniques but not soloing.. hendrix used quite a bit of double stops n soloing

  • Another thing you can do is bar the midde strings and hammer on the notes up and down the box, and even include the high E in also.

  • Great stuff! Is that a Jazz iii you're using? If so, is there anything you do tone wise, to compensate for the thinner & sharper attack compared to a standard shaped pick when going for that Hendrix tone?
