The Temu Multi-effect / Cube baby guitar pedal deep dive. Can it be any good for $35?
Temu got me! I finally gave in. I found this little device on their website and decided to give it a try. Check out the video to see a deep dive into it, and how it actually isn’t a bad device for the price!

Just in case you are wondering, the guitar used in this video, which is not seen, is a 2020 Gibson SG with Custombuckers in it. The guitar is ran through this pedal, then straight into my DAW with no effects, compression or any other plugins. It is the pure signal from the Temu Multi Effect Processor.

Just bought one for $18 US ????
I watched your video and it was very helpful, thank you. After watching the video, I bought one myself, but does it not have the function to adjust the equalizer for high/middle/low? When I apply distortion, the highs sound too strong, and I want to adjust them, but it seems there's no way to do that. If you know a way, please let me know.
Thanks for doing this video: just ordered one of these and your movie is invaluable!
Wow. I'm so glad you made this video. Great explanation of how it works! Mine arrived yesterday, along with a few other pedals. Can't wait to dig into it later today
Nothing to be ashamed, this is a great bang for your buck!
Thanks for the super vid!
its sounds good with it ,but then you play its not have a base sound litle to impact but ..for temu good.
Very helpful thanks bro????
Thanks so much for this review / instructional video! I'm sure it'll save me tons of time when my unit arrives tomorrow. As I'd ordered one of these already, I didn't use the link you provided. Sorry about that :-/
(£35 – Amazon).
I really want a Boss GX-10, but thought I'd get something cheap that is the same concept, i order to practice changing FX throughout a song and seeing if a multi FX box, stacking different types of FX is for me, rather than the individual pedals that I have currently. Your review has made me quite positive about it and, indeed, the portability and it being rechargeable, seems like it could be quite a cool thing to shove in my gig bag. I realise now that I did want a compressor and noise supressor, which it doesn't have, but never mind…
I want one pre-set for an echoey clean (The Cure!) for those ambient middle 8s/intros, one fairly harsh highish-gain pre-set for some tremolo-picking black metal, early Emperor idiocy and another for some meathead, dry riffing for some Death Metal, to play some At The Gates / Carcass… From your video, seems like it'll do the job! (although of course, I don't expect the sounds to be Quad Cortex quality
)
Thanks again! Subscribed
I like Temu
Way better then Scamazon and scamazon has the worst customer service
I got 2 of these.. Excellent value…my fly right went down…and I actually played a gig with it!!!..Great tutorial…Best I've seen thanks!!!
Why demo the amp tones without a speaker IR??
Say what you want about Temu; they've only messed up once and immediately refunded me. I received a lot of free money when their delivery date expired, an extra $5. A few products were odd, but most have turned out to be fantastic for pennies on the dollar.
Does it have a noise gate feature? Also when saving presets, can it save a lead preset where you can save a db increase in volume?
Something I haven't found on any videos, does the switch turn the IR's on and off? Or do you still have to use the selection knob on top?
I've bookmarked your video, as it will take me several watchings to catch up to your understanding of this multi-effects pedal. Thank you for taking the time to explain it!
I, too, was cajoled into shopping like a billionaire… Anyway, saw this M-VAVE thingy and got it! I would never have been able to figure this thing out without your video guidance! Thank you!!! I am a very late boomer at the beginning stage of becoming a Rock Star! Again, thank you very kindly!!!
This is sold as the Cube Baby on Amazon.
Great presentation, horrible product…
What a lot of people don't understand is that places like Ali Express generally sell the same stuff people buy in the U.S. under brand names. Except when they place a brand name on it, it's gets a ridiculous mark-up. More often than not, it's just something that is already being sold under a brand name in other countries. It's all coming from the same place.
Thanks for the detailed review and how to use it ,I got one and did not find it that easy to use but after following your steps it made it a lot easier , Cheers !
I have the exact pedal but I bought on amazon. Just a different label marked on the device. Thank you so much for helping me with learning how to use it fully as like you say the manual is not comprehensive. Great video, saves the headache trying to figure it out on ones own!
few days ago i got my bass cube baby for 5$ from Temu. really great piece of equipment. too bad they didn't had guitar one in the same price back then
Great for a keyboard
Thanks for this detailed review, I'd have never figured how to save presets without your help. I'm mainly a bass player, but I also like to mess with my Mustang a through a lil 15 watt amp and this little guy is just the ticket for some reverb, I like the variation with the amp and cab sims too. Some of it sounds good, maybe some not so much, I'm really pleased I bought one. I'd've been happy as heck to have had this when I was a beginner
some great sounds/effects on it. It seems worth the money for sure..!!
I got mine from Ali Express. Same thing. I use it to add Reverb/Chorus to my VOX Pathfinder 10. Good as a boost too.
Excellent run down of functions and how-to btw.
пустобрёх
Just what I needed thank you for the tutorial ????. I think the pedal is worth what I paid for it and planned practice usage. It's not something I would gig with but a nice to have for travel and practice.
I bought one, and here are my two cents, aside your good and detailed review:
– In edit mode, when a button is blinking, it means the value actually played is not the same that the button position indicates
For example, your reverb button is on a 25% position, but the preset you are editing has a 50% reverb value and plays this value.
Once you move the button, the value and the button position will be the same, and the button wil stop blinking.
– In edit mode still, the volume button is actually the preset level, so you can choose the volume equilibrium between all 3 presets by setting it the way you want.
Then, when back in preset mode, the volume button is the général volume of the cube baby.
– You can use the cube baby as an audio interface with a DAW on a comuter, with Asio4All installed and set for Input/Output..
But it's just for temporay use, or you must use the cube baby as the input, and for exemple the computer integrated sound card as the output.
(Otherwise, it seems you will record all activated tracks in the DAW at the same time you record what your are playing, on the track set to record your playing.
Example; you've got in your DAW a track with some drums, another with some bass, and you want to record your guitar through the cube baby on a third track, while hearing the drums and the bass, and the cube baby effects on your guitar.
If you don't use a second sound card as an output, you will in fact record, on the third track, your guitar play plus the drums plus the bass).
Thank you for sharing, I love this cube baby, very practical
Thank you for your detaied explaination for the Cube Baby guitar effects pedal. a friend of mine oaned me a CEVAVE to try befor I buy. you are the best instructions for how to use it. I think i will buy it now. thanks again. (sinc its christmas season …. have a fantastic holiday season.)
could this be used as an external fx unit w send & return on a analog mixer like to sue with vinyl?
How did you get it to turn on because no matter what I do it won’t turn on even when fully charged
Great insight. Thanks!
Two questions: Does the delay trail off after being bypassed?
Also:
Can I run the reverb without the cab sim? I'm just looking for a delay/reverb pedal.
Cheers!
This seems like something to keep in my gigbag as a backup, at the very least.
Thank you very much. Very informative.
excellent .thank you
I just got it off Amazon along with a behringer ts and put that in the front through a power amp to a cab. 80s metal for days.
They had no problem using brand names for the IR section but for the Amp Types we get things like "Power Zone" and my fave "Shittcow".
Do any of those names mean anything to anyone?
Is Mr. Smith some hot amp I haven't heard of?
Is there an amp company called Shittcow?
If so I think they are my favorite brand.
When you attempt to leave negative feedback on Temu, typically they instantly offer you a free refund or return if you're unhappy. I think this avoids a lot of the negative reviews as people are happy to keep their opinion when they get reimbursed.
Hey there thanks for the awesome video????.
I wanted to find out if this pedal sends midi information when connected to a computer.
I wanted to get it and double it up to control effects on my computer
A crock of shit
dude… thanks.. best explanation ???????????????????????????? now lets jamm..
true with temu… lol.. but yeah got me a cube baby amazon. i love it..
Does the modulations have volume drop? I'm planning to build a hybrid pedalboard and I'm going to use cube baby for modulations only, thanks,
grazie
