  • The reissue Ibanez Analog Delay does NOT sound like the old ones….the new ones use a simulation chip, not the warm bucket brigade like the originals. I had both, & couldn't sell the new one fast enough….then got a NUX.

  • Man, how could you skip the Blues Driver BD-2? I’d skip the SD-1 and go for BD-2 any day.

  • Great video my boy. In response to your comment about metal and compressor pedals, one thing to try (if you haven't already, I know you've been around the block with metal gear) is running your compressor into your high gain distortion pedals rather than after. I have a Keeley Compressor Plus and I find that this arrangement gives a tighter sound and more clarity between notes, especially when playing a wide range of frequencies at the same time. It also tightens up the bottom end so everything isn't lost in the muck. For most of my distortion pedals, it's just a more balanced sound with more sustain and clarity to my ears.

  • I'd add some sort of vibrato or univibe. MXR makes a good one, and has a Hendrix version of it. Has both chorus and vibrato modes, and sounds awesome. not exorbitantly expensive, either. Boss's Tremolo is darn cheap, highly flexible thanks to a knob that controls the waveform, and actually sounds really good. I re-discovered mine when I bought an amp with no Tremolo… Doesn't Boss also make a Fender Spring Reverb pedal?
You forgot the most important part: Some sort of Tweed/brownface Fender amp (a Blues Deluxe or Supersonic will work too) turned right up to the sweet spot! An actual Marshall Bluesbreaker is, of course, also acceptable, lol!

  • Man, I want to like TC so bad but my first ever purchase from them was the Gauss tape echo and that volume drop along with the non functioning mod switch made for a really really bad first impression of them.

  • Once I got my Helix, I am out of the pedal racket. I also went with the Blug AMP1 that is a 100w four channel tube amp that is the size of an EHX pedal with the optional outboard footswitch to control it. Those two into a Mesa 2×12 cab and I can dial in any tone ever conceived. And dial it in so easily. It really is the future of guitar. And if I do have a pedal I want to incorporate, I can easily get it into the signal chain with the Helix. But it's expensive. That is one down side is that you're going to drop over $3k for that rig. But it's a one time hit, and then you have no more need for anything else, so it will pay for itself eventually.

  • Hands down one of the best channels for valuable pedal info. My pedalboard is thin, but growing.

  • How about the boss blues driver or marshall bluesbraker…very interested to see how they are different from an SD1 for example…????

  • You know I love my Mojomojo and I get the TC domination concern in the list, but I also would have included the Dunlop Crybaby mini. Not much more than the Morley, tight footprint and an internal switch to give you 3 wah options.

  • Great review, as usual. Two pedals you might want to add to the list are the TC Electronics Mojomojo. That's not just a great pedal for the money (about $50), it's a great pedal, period. Another great affordable overdrive is the Electroharmonix Glove. By the way, the Glove stacks well with the Flatiron Fuzz.
