The Top 10 Most Underrated Electric Guitar Brands or Guitar Models

This is a list of the top 10 most underrated electric guitars that I have tried or owned. This list is a combination of guitars at all prices from inexpensive to very expensive.

For a guitar to be considered on this list it has to be considered far less mainstream from a regular run of the mill models from Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, or Squier, for example. This list comes from my own personal experience playing hundreds of guitars over the years.

  • I own 2 Reverend guitars. They are fabulous guitars and your bang for the buck is superb! G&L is another unsung but great brand

  • I think there are maybe better guitars than Fender, but I grew up with Fenders and only own 2 guitars. Ben Gibbard Mustang and a Highway dread (both MIM). These 2 guitars aren't available in a US version and are totally unique. I bought the US made Acoustasonic and a Taylor T5 but was sorely disappointed. No one talks about the Highway but its everything I dreamed of and chased after for years. Brand loyalty is an understatement but its not blind. There is just no way I want anything else other than the 2 Fenders I have. Never thought I would be in this place after chasing everything under the sun.

  • Check out Denzo custom. 100% Hand made to your preferences. Relicked anything is possible. Manufactured in Belgium. David D’ascenzo is not only an unbelievable luthier, he is also a fantastic guitar player. For a Luther an absolute must.

  • Jesus man, sooooooooooo much talking to get to a tiny point. Even if I use the timestamps, it still takes 30 seconds after the timestamp to even say the name or show a picture.

Even at 1.5x speed, it still drags man

  • I just got into learning to play and I was looking for a guitar in FB Marketplace. I was so confused with different models and names I gave up until I saw someone post they wanted to do some trading on a guitar. They were looking for a muzzleloader. I had one just gathering dust so I reached out and asked him what he had. He said it was an LTD EC-1000 Deluxe made in Indonesia. I made the trade. I’m happy with it but don’t know much about them. I paid about 300 for the rifle. Any opinions? Thanks

  • Went to a big music store and played every offset guitar in the shop. Reverend's 390 Jetstream blew them away for tone, variety of tone, quality, and playability. Traded in my new Guild electric. The Jetstream is now my second most-played guitar. Really high quality. A workman's guitar at a decent price.

  • Great reviews.
    – I think an underrated guitar are Godin guitars from Canada. I own a strat style with 2 humbuckers and a single coil. I also have a twangy 12 string. Both are great guitars. Mark Greene, Arizona, USA.

  • Nice video Shane! I’m glad you included MusicMan guitars. They’re completely underrated and I’m not sure why. I own the aforementioned Axis Sport, a Super Sport, Mariposa, Valentine and even one of their sub brand Sterling Valentine guitars (chambered). Really great guitars IMO.

  • I don't know about you, but my Vola Oz had a microphonic bridge pickup. Totally unuseable under high gain.

  • Those are not what I would call underrated. To me, underrated should mean under-priced too,

  • There is at least one Yamaha Pacifica model with 2 great sounding HBs. It's the Tele style ash-body, Mike Stern signature. I acquired one (15 yrs ago) in a trade with a band-mate who convincingly covered all kinds of classic rock with it. To boot, it's the slightly cheaper consumer market version. 20+ years old, original tuners, pups, bridge, nut. It plays great, feels solid, and really rocks.
Can't go wrong with Yamaha. Anything they make. Over the years, everyone loves playing my little 1980 Yammy FG331 acoustic ($110 new). I did set it up really good though.

  • I got ahold of 83 Kramer striker 300 F Rose pkg. That has to be the best I've played ,Eddie van Halen bought the Co back in 80 and then sold it to s Korea, another honorable mention is the Yamaha Pacifica.

You can use the bass roll-off or put the volume on 8. Many tones. Locking tuners, 12" radius fingerboard.
