I love Darin aka Aldous Snow but he’s a slut for money. Never see the guy say “I prefer” or “I don’t like it”
Solid State Amps equal scam
I have a Roland Blues Cube Artist and it’s brilliant. All of my Dr Zs and other valve amps are sitting there with covers over them.
i'm kinda new to this channel and i''ve enjoyed your videos up to this point, but c'mon man you can't seriously advertise that vox amp as appropiate for drop b tuning, it's okay if you're not a modern metal guy, but i think the ultimate goal is to help kids out there to not waste money on stuff that's not gonna work for them right?
I love Orange! The best sounding amps in the world.
sorry, but orange all the way… no comparison- look how made you play?
it's hilarious how years ago solid stae amps like peavey H/H Kustom and Fender Red Knob series and even Marshall MG 1st Issue sounded light years ahead of these awful synthetic sounding piles of shit – If you think Orange sounds good you need a labotomy
TRADEMARK 60 , AND Roland Jazz Chorus 120
frame by frame by king crimson is probably my favorite jazz chorus song
Dagan always sounds like he's skipped his ADHD medicine. By far my favorite go-to for demos. I have ADHD and this is how I sound when I forgo my meds. I think it's more that he is trying to get a lot of info into a short time but I like to think he's just like me.
I have an orange crush 20rt. It was actually funny. I saw one 2nd hand in Amsterdam where I live for 150 euro. I messaged the seller and told him. I wanted to buy it from him but didn't have the money at that moment but I had a pristine sm58 and a pristine sm58 and I knew I'd be able to sell them within 24 hours for 75 each. So I could offer him the asking price.
He replied he was selling it to buy a Shure sm58 and sm57….
So we had a laugh. I went over to his place (he had an office rented and used it as a studio making scores for musicals. He had one of the nicestest Les Pauls I've ever played tuned and ready to go for me to test it out (it had weight relief and a roasted maple fretboard). It sounded soooo sweet.
I gave him the mics. He gave me a large bag the amp plus chords (power and a good guitar cable which was already 45 euros new) so a great deal, that was just fun! I like it if a mutual passion is briefly shared by 2 strangers who will never meet again. So now I have it. I love it. Except for the overdrives which are way too metal. So I used a tubescreamer clone and a weird crunch one (or my Sansamp original. But that one is mostly at my dad's. And I use an Electro-Harmonix reverb. Hall spring and plate. Excellent pedal (the build on reverb is very subtle. Which is to say you need to have it turned off and then turn it on so people notice some change. But if I start with it fully open people ask me why I got the one without reverb. That is how "subtle" it is.
But most importantly. It has black sides. Because I'm Dutch. We have enough orange crap in our house anyway for football and Kingsday. So I like my black orange crush (and occasionally when I want a metal sound I can get it. But the foot switch is turned around. When it's clean and the distortion off the light is on. When you engage the distortion the light goes out. Very, very counterintuitive. But a bit of idiosyncrasies never hurt anyone.
It's a buy for the great clean that can be turned into any kind of distortion with cheap Harley Benton pedals. Or one of the most expensive analogue guitar amp simp pedals The Sansamp (later named the Classic).
Having played the Fender Champion 40, I'm having a REALLY hard time taking this guy seriously. "Sounds awesome!" Yeah – no credibility. This is a salesperson.
I hate that you english cucks say valves
Always LIVE watching you demo amps.. you actually do and play what we all want to hear
For JC-120, Mark Shafer of Carewaul and Mike Griffith of Bonton.
He barely gave any time demoing the Fender Champ 40. And gave the most time to the JC40. It almost seems like he is promoting something here!
i have the fender champ 40 only way it sounded good was to replace the speaker :/
So much amazing gear out there nowadays. But fully analog, solid state amps are my favorite.
16:45 He had to do it.
Used the JC-40 at a gig last weekend and it was magical. Will be definitely taking it out again! Was plenty loud for a large indoor venue!
red stripe peavey series is awesome and loud
The Jc sounds spectacular clean, but I don't care for the dirty tones. The other amps were all just sorta meh. The Boss sounded the best dirty, but if my main concern was a good drive tone for under a grand, and I didn't want to use pedals, I'd go pick up one of those 20 watt 1×12 Marshall DSL20cr combos. They sound leaps and bounds better than any of these amps do dirty. It sounds better clean than any of these amps too, With the exception of the roland, which just sounds different. You can't really compare them.
I’ve got a Katana 50, a Nextone Artist and a Quilter Cub50 amongst others and the Katana has lots of effects and can store many presets, the Nextone does sound better but very few effects and limited preset numbers and the Cub50 is quite limited with three inputs Blonde, Tweed and Black but it sounds the best by far. It’s all analogue and has the touch and soft feel of a tube amp. The other 2 sound great but in the end there is a harsh and dry sound from their power amps. They can be tweaked to reduce the typical transistor sound but in the end always there. The power amp in the Quilter has been designed to have a high impedance output like a tube and models sag like a tube but it’s all analogue. So I’m selling the Katana and bought a Boss GT1 for my Fx and I’m pondering the Nextone as it has a pretty big sound which is good in a bigger room. The rub is here in Oz the Cub50 is $1200 and a Katana is $400 but for my money the Quilters are the best SS amps out there give one a go you’ll be surprised. Nice review except for the Quilter omission!
I hope to see more good solid state amps at Namm 2024 and not just modeling amps with 100s of effects.. Just a solid good amp with two channels and a good reverb ,, quality construction,, like the orange crush 60.. but with a mid control on the clean channel.
Love your videos brother!
I regret selling my 1978 Yamaha G100 212. It was a killer solid state amplifier.
queen , pantera… soad or slipknot van halen……Dagan is such a badass
The old Marshall MG amps the early one were and still are fantastic..
I love when playing the AC15VR dirty channel one of Daggan’s riffs started as that cheesy rock guitar solo riff from Top Gun, then half way through the phrase I reckon he realised he’d started to play it, knew it was proper cheeseville and perfectly switched the riff mid phrase to She sells sanctuary by The Cult, nice save, nice playing Daggan, I don’t actually think that many people would have noticed so your coolness is still intact.
