The Ultimate Beginner Bass?? | Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar
The Ibanez GSRM20 short scale is a mighty little trooper of a bass guitar that brings all the benefits of short scale design at a very affordable price. By providing a great balance of price and performance, Ibanez has once again given us a true winner in the entry-level range.
Ibanez GSRM20 is a true contender in the entry level/beginner market. It brings all the right features, the right kind of performance to price ration, and just an overall awesome feel. It being a short scale model should really worry you. This design has been around since the ’60s, and was actually a more preferred option. Whether you’re a beginner who needs an easy setup to learn on or someone who isn’t comfortable playing standard scale models, Ibanez GSRM20 is something you definitely want to look into.

Great review! Have one. Still don't know what's under that black cover on the back of the bass. Since it's a "passive" bass (no battery), what's the mystery under that cover? Thanks again for this overview. Greatly appreciated.
But crazy fret buzz in the intro? No?
Bought one that should arrive tomorrow, literally because a full scale of the same design was almost $500, when this bass in walnut finish was $199. Every review i saw on this bass was things like "i want this as my main bass, and i own a full scale." So, hopefully it's as good as everyone raves about.
Don't forget Ibanez will punish you $50 extra if you're left-handed
I love mine. I just ordered another one. I am a lead singer who played guitar and am converting to playing bass while lead singing. This will make it much easier for me to play rhythm while bass playing.
Is this recommended for a serious playing? I'm starting a band with my good buddies, and we agreed to take things seriously. The bassist is a guitarist-turn-to-bassist who struggled to reach the frets of a bass.. Will this be good & okay for gigging (or even professional use) after component upgrades?
Hate when people call something a beginners anything. If it sounds good then anyone can use it. Calling it a beginners makes it sound like it sucks
You dont need background music while talking!! Stop this
Good comments, but no real demo? No negatives at all? No mention of comparable products and price points?
Any adult considering this bass, based on vids and pictures, should know this is a small bass. It's called the Mikro Bass, but a better name would be the micro bass. I picked one up for my first bass, and it feels like a toy. Just sayin',,,,
Let’s talk about how you shouldn’t do bass guitar reviews if you can’t play the bass guitar
Just bought this exact bass lmao
can long scale strings be used on this bass.
Is it true its hard to keep it tuned? I heard you gotta tune it every few songs
Ehm…no real sound example?
I play a full size SX bass and also have a short scale(30") SX. It has a more solid serious instrument feel than either the short Ibanez or Squier, cheaper too.
What's the weight of the bass?
Why the irritating guitar on bass infomercial
Dear C.A. House Music, can you please tell me where can I buy those original Ibanez strings with the black tops, or how are they called. Thank you in advance, and a Happy New Year!
I'm gonna buy one, put piccolo strings on it, and run it thru massive fuzz
I LOVE my GSRM20! Mine's in the flat walnut finish. I call it "Lil Nutty". Oh and if anyone disparages SS basses, you should take a better look at Paul McCartney's Hofner SS Viola bass.
i have one of this and i must to say… i love it :3
