The Wailers Push Forward with “Evolution” – No Treble
The world lost a musical gem in February with the passing of bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett, whose deep and melodic lines propelled the Bob Marley’s music with The Wailers. Barrett kept The Wailers going the rest of his life and they still continue today under the leadership of his son, Aston Barrett, Jr.
The group has made a statement about their future with a new album called Evolution that pays homage to their legacy while pushing forward. It’s their second album produced Emilio Estefan, Jr. and is described as a musical journey blending reggae rhythm with Latin and Caribbean influences.
“Aston Barrett Jr., son of the legendary Aston “Familyman” Barrett, has been pivotal in ensuring The Wailers’ music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide,” the band’s website states. “His virtuosic performances and instrumentations throughout the album are a testament to his dedication of simultaneously preserving and evolving the band’s sound. Barrett Jr.’s influence within the album is expressly evident, especially in tracks ‘Evolution’ and ‘Sins,’ where his approach breathes new life into the band’s storied legacy.”
