The Zvex Fuzz Factory – Pedal Review | Is It Any Good?

The Zvex Fuzz Factory is a hugely well known pedal, but how good is it?
What’s it good for? Have you played one before?

Let me play you some riffs and you can decide for yourself. I also stumbled into onto an alien planet at the start it seems. Saw Captain Kirk, it was a good time.

  • great video harry thank you so much! can I ask, is there some kind of phaser / moving filter after the pedal on the plug in baby riff? if so, what pedal is that? thanks 🙂

  • My first fuzz factory arrived today and the first riff I played…. Plug in baby ????

  • For controlled Fuzz Face related sounds…… I rarely use the Comp knob for oscillation suppression….primarily the Gate. Comp heavy settings tend to sound very "soft" and spongy to me, yet highly over driven. Those aren't sounds for me. I like to start with Comp, Drive and Stab all at a minimum with the Gate around 2 where the oscillations stop. This is the most mellow sound I get get out of it. Then I up the Stab to get more treble (and adjust the Gate if need be). The Drive is really not needed unless you are going into modern settings and then the Fuzz Factory really takes off.

  • Does the comp even work, to give you any sustain? Do the knobs run backwards except for the volume knob

  • This pedal is capable of a HUGE array of tones.
As long as they're all Matt Bellamy inspired tones. ☹️
And yes, I own one. I seriously cannot wrap my head around why this pedal is so expensive.

  • For a "botique" pedal, I think the prices that I've seen on Reverb are extremely reasonable. Plus, the huge variety of sounds you can get out of it makes it even more a steal. Excited to get this when I have the funds lol.

  • Funny thing unless you’re using your amp and the recording is direct you won’t get what this pedal actually sounds like ….just like advertising an hd tv on a black and white lol

  • There is one or two missing information for me to decide if you think the fuzz factory is good or not: do you hate yourself or not? Or are you a masochist?

  • I bought a fuzz factory DIY kit and at first thought, it was broken (most demos don't show the weird feedback noise)????
The kit only costs about 35 Euros and it sounds exactly like the original!

  • People who buy the Fuzz Factory to only play the Groove > people who buy the Fuzz Factory to only play Plug In Baby.

  • Personally, I have it and I used it a LOT for many years now and I'm gonna say that I don't think it's worth the price BUT it depends on which is your style and also it gives you a variety of fuzzes and chaotic sounds that aren't easy to find in any other pedal effect… if you just one a more standard option of fuzz, I would recommend the Big Muff but if you want to be able to have a broader variety of fuzzes then the fuzz factory is perfect for you (this is my personnal opinion based on my own experience of playing with it)

  • Hi Harry, I’m considering this pedal to use in combination with the Whammy but I’ve heard that they don’t work too well together. I’ve think it’s to do with how the pedal oscillates. Can you help me with this? Cheers.
