I had an EG prestige with a low pro edge 2 it was awesome. And 2 s series prestige with the zr trem…or what ever it was called. Also worked really well. And a cheaper rg with …I think the 3…..it was horrible too
I saved and finally got a Japanese made Prestige RG652AHM. Ash body, beautiful birds eye maple fretboard… and an Original Edge tremolo. The Original Edge is a beast! I've heard bad things about that Edge III.
I have Ibanez RG 550 LTD (1996) which has Lo-Pro Edge..the guitar remains incredibly long i'tune – better than my original Floyd on EVH
If you like IBANEZ guitars the Orig. Ibanez Edge or Lo-Pro Edge they are the way to go.
I heard that the Edge 2 is far superior than the edge 3 and holds tune way better.
I would get a Solar instead.
I had one of these that was completely molested. Shitty paint job and everything, and it was amazing.
oh hey I have an RG320 with those same humbuckers and that bridge. It's a piece of shit, literally down to the neck angle, but it was the first guitar I ever bought myself so what did I know lol. It's been in it's case for years since it's puked out it's bridge, twice. Sucks cause especially for it's pricerange it does sound killer and it takes drop tuning really well. Mine stayed in tune pretty well but man oh man that piece of shit baseplate literally makes the trem's life expectancy like 5 seconds. And yeah I repaired that screw with wood glue and toothpics and re-drilling the hole….. But it doesn't want to hold the claw in.
I bought one second hand as a project guitar for $80 CAN and it was a mess. It had no electronics, no machine heads, just had the neck, body, locking nut and the bridge (no springs and claw). So I coverted it into a single humbucker, fixed bridge guitar (which was a major pain to patch the pickup, bridge and trem routes) and it plays like a dream now HOWEVER I cant compare the before and after simply because as I previously said it was a mess but at least this video gave me an idea of what the before could have been and I think I made the right choice with the conversion
The problem with cheap tremolos, most of the time (assuming the nut is fine, and the spring and claw issues are resolved), is usually the blade edges where the tremolo pivots or the posts themselves. Since they are generally made of soft materials, they tend to get "dented." So, 90% of the time, you can fix it by filing the blades edges (or/and replacing the posts).

Posts + Knife edges + Chapstick = Stable Tuning
Usually works for me.
Sharpen the knife edges of the trem, consider getting new posts. People always complain about knife edge trems ("Bought this used on ebay, won't stay in tune). I wonder why? The knife edges wear until they're dull and the posts wear as well.
Guess what the vast majority of people will do with a floating trem when they grab it off the rack at GC? Do their best Dimebag impression. Have potentially hundreds of occurrences of this and the knife edges are so dull there is no ability for the bridge to return to zero and be in tune.
How do I know? I had this happen when I bought a brand new Suhr off the rack. The fix was new posts and sharpened knife edges.
It's an Indonesian made Ibby so you need to have low expectations to begin with – that's not a slight on the factory or the people who work there – they just are forced to use cheap parts, and spend less time on the finish. The typical issue with cheaper Ibanez are the trems – don't be fooled into thinking that because the Edge 3 is a newer design than the Edge 2 and the Edge, that it is better. It's actually that the 2 is cheaper than the original, and the 3 is cheaper again than the 2.
I would encourage you to try another Ibanez – it sounds like you enjoy a lot about that guitar, other than the trem, so look for one that's either Made in Japan, or in the Premium range from Indo, and stay away from the Edge 3 (and preferably the Edge 2 also).
It's not the trem, it's you..
As a rule of caution, you should never to trem claw adjustments with the springs on. That requires extra force to tighten the screws and that increases the chances of stripping the screw, stripping the hole, damaging the claw, damaging the springs, damaging your hands and so on.
I've always wanted to get into the Ibanez range, and have been looking for one to do a review. Thanks for keeping us informed ????????

That's like 500€ or something new? That's the problem. I bought 800€ seven string with Edge II-7 and was disappointed too. Compared to my RG2550Z it was so bad. Personally I'm not spending under 1k for any guitar anymore.

I totally get what your saying, I'll take it off your hands man…. seriously, most of my "budget" ($600 & under) Ibanez I've owned have this problem. But I've loved a few enough to swap the trem. Good content ????
