"Very Good Guys.. Thank You For The Bass Lesson…
I Like Iron Maiden… Steve Harris My Favorite Bass Player…
Good…"
When you are plucking the top string open. Do you let your thumb stop your fingers?
Hard to get all 3 fingers to not get muddy or just turn into each note to pop when playing really fast.
nice "quick" 28 minute lesson
Jfc. I just joined a metal band and I'm very intimidated
I just wanna play dream theater
Cliff never used more than 2
Alex Webster of cannibal corpse is the master of this, considering their music is waaaay faster and more technical he can’t be beaten.
Steve Harris does not play alternate triplets like a normally person.
There's a video of him explaining this
Most would play fpr example index middle index.
Steve plays index middle middle
Says he found it more natural and easier at speed. An also moves the accent
Great lesson. Thank you.
The Trooper is the exact song I was learning this technique to play. Thank you
Doing 3-2-1 is actually the same kinda thing as 1-2-3. I can play many licks and it works
I notice you're starting with the ring finger, though my natural instinct is to start with the index finger and end on the ring finger. Is there any technical difference/issues with that or is it personal preference?
Is there a there a reason to use three finger picking instead of double thumb ? It seems to be more complicated
Good flexing!
Good lesson, he talks plain English which makes it easy to follow.
Great lesson! Thanks!
Check out the Billy Sheehans bass tone on my channel
Fuckin' great video

Check out Violent and Funky by Infectious Grooves… Trujillo being a badass for 4+ minutes straight!!!
That Billy Sheehan vhs video in the 80's, sent every bass pkayer back to the shed for 10 years.
Fun fact steve Harris only uses two fingers. He's absolutely insane
I use my 3 finger in random ways. It work great for me
Harris uses two fingers chap.
Harris and Burton only use 2
Use a pick.
Since I started as a classic guitar player, it helped me transfer three finger picking on bass guitar. Of course, when I first tried bass, I used two fingers and didn't use the third until I was able to play properly with two.
The idea is in constant alternating of the fingers, no mater you play "straight" patterns or triplets.
The pattern I use is very simple and it corresponds to a classical m – i – m – a, which is 2 – 1 – 2 – 3.
If you have to start with another finger, the whole pattern remains the same, only the starting finger changes. E.g. 1 – 2 – 3 – 2 or 3 – 2 – 1 – 2.
how you get your backing tracks its pretty nice. You are seriously the best bass teacher on the internet????!
Steve Harris uses 2 fingers (not counting thumb).
I grew up trying to emulate his playing, so I started with 3. Years later I discovered that he only uses two.
I still try to use all 4 (pinky, etc.) once in a while.
Thank u sir ????
Thank you! Great tutorial videos. I like that you get right to business. You don't give tours of your house, or waste time. Keep it up.
Why doesn't he mention that the more you stretch your right arm the easier is to play fast with your fingers. He has to lower his bass and then get rid of his bending arm. I am a bassplayer. Using two fingers like Steve Harris, and galloping fast as hell. My bass is way down on my waist and my arm is streched to the full.
dude, please wear a t shirt under that hoodie
I'm eagerly awaiting your effortless bass cover of Iron Maiden's The Duellists.

i know this video is almost 6 years old but im curious… what if i did it backwards, index, middle, ring? is that possible to get this if i do it this way? it feels a little more natural for me.
Can't believe there's no mention of Alex Webster!
Geddy Lee uses a flamenco style which is useful for fast playing
no te sueana entero charecha
I always play Maiden with 2 fingers. Tried 3 but would always watch Harris and I was sure he was only using 2.
????
3 finger funk?
