Three Sounds: Silktone Fuzz+

Which sound is your favorite?

Today we’re checking out the Silktone Fuzz+. Silktone has taken their fantastic sounding Fuzz pedal and released this + version with some refinements and excellent new features that make it a great addition to any rig.

Like the original unit, the Fuzz+ is a germanium based fuzz that has been designed to work anywhere in your rig thanks to the onboard pickup simulator. It’s not picky about signal chain placement or buffers. The Fuzz+ also sees the return of the bias knob and meter, which allows you to always dial in the precise voltage you prefer regardless of the environment.

The new additions include a pair of tone controls, one for filtering the high end, and the other for the low end. These are excellent for fine tuning the fuzz and how it reacts with everything else in your chain. The Cleanup knob which simulates the volume knob on your instrument has seen its taper refined to be a lot smoother. This is great for dialing in lower drive tones and even using the pedal as a germanium boost.

The biggest change (and my favorite) has been replacing the “raw” toggle with a footswitch. This Raw setting bypasses the cleanup knob and the tone controls resulting in much more aggressive fuzz sounds. Using this can also let you effectively run the pedal as a dual fuzz/drive. Setting a lower gain fuzz/drive tone with the clean up knob and activating the Raw switch for full blown fuzz.

Thank you to Silktone for sending this to be a part of the series.
