More often than not, manufacturers are re-releasing Classic Basses from the yesteryear. When we saw that Tokai had brought back their Fender inspired basses, we just HAD to check one out. But can the new Tokai Legacy ’51 Precision Bass live up to the glowing reputation of it’s ancestors like the Hard Puncher? Let’s find out.

  • I have been looking at the newer Tokai PB '51s. They look and sound great. I have a couple of Tokai Jazzes and they're super.

  • I bought the J Bass version, I didn't like the very pale neck on yours. Sounds nice though. The J Bass has a more yellowy neck and headstock. Thanks for the vid !

  • Are these made in Japan? The Legacy ’51 PB weighs about 3.6 kg (8 lbs.), which should be pleasantly light.

  • Tokai seems to be a nice brand. I only tried some of those LP style guitars which are too heavy for me. I'll try one of those basses as soon as possible.
