Brilliant conversation from Tommy here. All the years I have known your playing… you are brilliant every day to the guitar.
I will be bringing my Moms J 45 …1955 , same year u were born to Winspear theatre Edmonton Alberta Ca. Greet & Meet ????????????????❤️????
Thank you for the reproof. I can fix some things about my playing.
Thank You Tommy! It's always an honor to hear your tips and playing.
That's all true!
0:27 – not in acoustic guitars…
TE tries to convince us that if we try hard enough we can play like him. We can’t. It’s a kind though wrong thought.
Thanks for your knowledge and generosity!!!!
"You don't need an expensive guitar" Sure, that's why none of his guitars is under $3000. My guitar is $100 and it's a piece of shit, it sounds super dull, its action is super high and it does not tune well.
haha that ched atkins anecdote at the end
This argument if you will never looses it's creedence, too many guys I've did a bit of teaching with "best I could" kept buying gear lol you can't buy a seasoned pair of hands.
His style and tone seems to devour expensive guitars…
I've got some pretty expensive firewood
He's playing, it's sound great and then you realize he still has the Feedback Buster in the soundhole. Imagine what it sounds like without! 🙂
Tip number 1 – you have to be Tommy Emmanuel
Just burned my guitar.
I can play my electric guitar in my apartment through my amplifier and turn it up to 10 and hit and A chord and it's really really really loud
I Love Tommy. He is a Phenomenal Guitar player and probably an even better person, but I wish he's let me "Set-Up" his guitars-action, so his Strings Don't Buzz. That Buzzing would drive me Crazy.
1 000 000 000 and more likes for Master !!!
My dad always told me its the man behind the guitar that makes it sound good.

Yeah I'm sure you spend a lot of time working on your technique……I'm being sarcastic.
tone is in the fingers. Totally.
Ha ha ha tune up boys!
I wonder if he ever considered a 7 string guitar. I got a Gipsy 7 string and cannot put it down.
He talk his guitar is expensive
So true. Years ago Steve Goodman played a show at our college. After the show he dropped into the local bar. I was lucky enough to be there. The bartender asked him to play a tune and he said he didn't have a guitar. Bartender gave him an old beat up Kay (remember those?). He made it sing! A great player can make any crappy box sound good while a bad player can make a $6000 Martin sound like junk.
looks like Tommy is ok with a little bit of fret buzz..
I think the tone is also in a good guitar, not only fingers. Its just like that. If not… We would all play 100 dollar crap chinese guitars. If a guitar is crap, its just like this, no fingers will help.
Thank you Tommy. Legend.

that thumb piece looks a little tight on his thumb. looks like it could turn blue
2 other things you need to improve, tuner and metronome
give a good player with a guitar with 2 inches of string action and he can't play for sure
He's extremely generous with his knowledge
Tommy plays beautiful
anyone knew the song title that he played?
Led zeppelin
Yes-you can be happy Tommy-i believe you worked ot the kinks and are getting a great tone! You are right of course about an expensive instrument in the hands of a novice, and vice-versa. I really like your sound-and Chet Atkins, merle Travis and Doc Watson, Jerry Reed-all greats-you are right there- a true master.
Record Yourself.
Be Aware.
Work on your Tone.
getting very old looking very quickly !! he stayed indoors for too long and needed more sun !!!
Can anyone tell me why he doesn't keep nails on his right hand but still making such nice and clear tone?
The D string sounded like geese farts on a muggy day. (Leo Kottke)
But Hendrix was always out of tune! 🙂
On top of all that talent he seems like such an affable person.
Real master!
I could see and hear him play forever… Although I didn't learn anything new I was really inspired…
Hi Tommy! Question! Which strings do you use?
