  • Matt I like your list it's all over the place for the variety we have on this list. Peter Gabriel's album is stellar! There's 3 albums that have really caught my ears this year… The first one.. Trevor Rabin – Rio.. simply solid stuff from him… 2nd…Dave Kerzner – Heart land mines Vol.1 personally my favorite of the year..great Lyrics
#1 just came out early Dec. With their second album The Round Window – Everywhere and Nowhere…. If I had to say what type of music… Prog neo pop… Great vocals and Musicianship! These guys are good with great potential!

  • thanks again for introducing me to Caroline Polachek.

I had no idea Paul Simon made another album.

Gum I may need to hear. And rateyourmusic for example agrees with you on the new album is the best.

K'mono is totally Yes/Retro Prog like. I do wonder if they know some of the other local prog bands, or could do a show with them (Bubblemath, The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra).

  • My favorite this year was Saturnia, I had a streak of listening to it every day from release until Christmas (because I forgot).

  • That Lemon Twigs album is something special. Everything Harmony and Himlabacken, Vol.2 are my top 2 of this year. Thanks for your videos, Matt. They have helped me in shaping and curating my musical taste.

  • Hi! I found your channel after Robert Fithen mentioned it in his new video. ???? I agree with the albums on your top 10 that I have heard and the rest I think I need to hear. The Peter Gabriel really surprised me too. ???? Caroline Polachek and the Lemon Twigs are top notch. I'm off to check out some of your other videos now.????

  • Great review, I plan on listening to several of these albums right away! So glad you have Peter Gabriel’s i/o in there. I’m obsessed with this album, it’s so beautifully textured. I also just discovered Caroline P a couple weeks ago. That album is amazing too. Very much appreciate your descriptive analysis. Keep up the good work.

  • Great list! What I like about this list (and your channel) is that it gets me thinking. Like a good movie. The music is eclectic and interesting and not something I hear of every day. Not a copy and paste of many of the other youtube reviewers. I enjoy watching and hearing about music that is mostly new to me. Mondo Drag made my list from one of your reviews.

Our lists aligned on the #1 spot. I didn't think anything could oust Everything Harmony, even way back when it came out. It remained in my #1 spot the whole year, although my #2 has been played much more recently.

I'm working on my top 50 list (enjoyed your list) but here's my top 10:

    1. The Lemon Twigs – "Everything Harmony"
    2. Darlingside – "Everything is Alive"
    3. Charles Wesley Godwin – "Family Ties"
    4. Foo Fighters – "But Here We Are"
    5. Sufjan Stevens – "Javelin"
    6. Slowdive – "everything is alive"
    7. Sleep Token – "Take Me Back To Eden"
    8. Mondo Drag – "Through the Hourglass"
    9. Boygenius – "the record"
    10. Chris Stapleton – "Higher"

    Honorable Mentions
    1. Balance and Composure – "Too Quick to Forgive" (2 song EP)
    2. Paul Simon – "Seven Psalms…"
    3. Feist – "Multitudes"
    4. Wilder Woods – "FEVER / SKY"
    5. Lana Del Rey – "Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd"

    Instrumental Albums and Film Scores
    1. Ludwig Goransson – Oppenheimer Soundtrack
    2. Cicada – "Seeking the Sources of Streams"
    3. Alexis Ffrench – "Peace" (EP)
    4. Hans Zimmer – The Creator Soundtrack
