  • Holy hell I haven't heard some of these since the 80s. Its the video flashbacks for me .. MTV was new, and you had to just watch all day to wait for your favorite artist to rock the TV.

  • Lots of bands that are basically known for one song in the eighties. Timbuk 3, Zebra, Katrina And The Waves, The Vapors, Henry Lee Summer, Kim Carnes, Vixen, Wall Of Voodo, and many others that may have had other mild hits abroad but in America are generally known for one song, like A-ha, Survivor, Falco, Europe, Rick Astley, Young Fine Cannibals, Sinead O'Connor, Corey Hart, Boomtown Rats, Planet P., Wang Chung, Men Without Hats, Modern English, Madness, Thomas Dolby, Herbie Hancock, Human League, John Parr, Chris DeBurgh, White Lion, Enigma, Jackson Browne, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Billy Thorpe (not his work from the 60s and 70s, but Children Of The Sun from the 80s), Buggles, The Tubes, Gary Numan, etc. the list is endless.

  • WHAT!!!!????? You brought up the phone number of JENNY and forgot to say another iconic piece. We now use 555 numbers in movies because this band was sued so bad, that no real number could ever be used again.

  • i didn't forget they were awesome, I still listen 2 most of these today. On this list, my favorite is Too Shy. Also Toy Soldiers by Martika. Dark song, but a great one hit wonder

  • Pity that from all the fantastic Italo Disco tracks of the 80's "Tarzan Boy" was chosen, there are so much out there that are so much better, but I
guess not many made it to the Billboard Hot 100 as the genre was much more popular over here (in Europe) than in the U.S., and still the true gems were very popular in discotheques and clubs but didn't appear in regular charts (or on "regular" TV programs like Top of the pops or Toppop), I do have to give you credit for finding one with a rather funny/strange/bizar clip.

  • I would say the landscape changed immensely from 1981 (post disco/punk) to, lets say 1987 or so (new wave, alternative, yet more rock). But a great decade of hits for sure. Thanks!

  • Hey.. Eddie Murphy's "Boogie in the Butt" was more well known to me as a kid of the 80s

  • "1989 was a great year for pop music "

Funny, most of us that lived it feel 1989 was the start of when pop music started going seriously downhill.

And Toy Soldiers is by far the worst song listed here. Hated it then, had zero feelings of nostalgia hearing it now.
