And May's pickups can be reverse polarized.
Nothing from Stevie Ray? To much heavy metal. Starts sounding the same to me
Monkey and Head from Korn combine for a unique rock sound on all of their albums.
4:09 what out of phase?
Loved the sound of the Roland guitar synth on rock and roll fantasy Paul Rogers played
Joe Walsh Funk 49
Don't know if someone already mentioned it- Kenny Wayne Shepard..Blue on Black
Clapton – Bluesbreakers – Hideaway
Ty Tabor- Kings X
My Queen choice would be It's Late
One area where we live in different places is the metal stuff. I think the sound on those things was always pretty easy to dol
Love your show Rick. It's like sitting down with a fat blunt and talking to the dudes about music except one of them knows practically everything about everything in rock & roll. It's like we're hanging out. Keep on doing this.
I like the sound Jimmy Page got when he bowed his guitar.
Honestly idk how you don’t pick Korn, I hate that fucking band with all my heart but, like it or not their guitar tone unfortunately changed the world and you don’t get anything, linkin park or chevelle with out it.
I think you should include:
● Per Gessle in Roxette
● Janne Schaffer
I really dig Alex Lifeson's tones on Caress of Steel
Nothing from Joey Santiago ☹
May uses an English sixpence.
I got tired of scrolling to see if there was a comment, but what is up with the switch of venues to the hotel room and the black eyes? If it was mentioned, I am sorry for not scrolling down that far. Rick, did you lose big on March Madness?
Now onto the content.
There is a reason the Klon pedal is the “King” of guitar tones. The best scratchy Klon/Vox tone is Dan Sermon on Wrecked.
But good lord of all that is great and awesome…Tom Morello. Tom is Tom. Just Tom. Unmistakable. Great.
Now can I talk about Mary? Mary Morello is the mom we wish we all had.
Neil Young – anything with Crazy Horse. “Alabama” is a good example.
I like Django’s sound 🙂
Paul Kossoff of Free on All Right Now. It isn't flashy, but to me it is perfection, the definitive guitar sound of classic rock.
so many great LZ tracks to choose from for tone – I might like to hear you do a deep dive on Ten Years After
Bill Nelson on Crying To The Sky by Be Bop Deluxe. Also, Strange Man, Changed Man by Bram Tchaikovsky.
