synchronicity was sting playing guitar on a bass lol
Lot's of people confusing "sound" for "player" or "riff" in these comments! So, just for the sound, I'm going to throw in Dan Lorca from Nada Surf, especially on "Mother's Day" from the second album ("The Proximity Effect") and "Killian's Red" from the third ("Let Go").
And for all those people saying Lemme isn't rock – go listen to "Born to Raise Hell". That is pure kick-ass rock-and-roll, right there.
Mick Karn
Mick Karn?
Queensryche, had an Awesome, Bass guitar SOUND
Peter' Mars 'Cowling . Pat Travers Band
big bottom – spinal tap. lol
No Primus? ????
How did you miss THE most underrated bassist in all of music history, Mel Schacher? He is the perfect example of melodic bass lines while maintaining a heavy root.
I also find it interesting you chose Pinball Wizard for John Entwistle's entry. Tommy was one of the few times Entwistle stayed on a short musical leash in his playing. A better demonstration would obviously be The Real Me.
No No No Simon Gallup Fascination Street, Jumpin Someone Else's Train, Dozens more… A foul miss. Your metal owes all to post punk and you should know it.
Glad you mentioned Wilton Felder. I’m a Crusaders fan
Jackson 5 is hardly rock, Rick.
Bruce Foxton’s sound and groove on Tube Station is second to none.
What no Roger Waters? How can you not include the bass line from "Money,"
Kept waiting for Herbie Flowers from Lou Reed’s Take a walk on the wild side. May not be technically challenging but the bass owns this song.
Um, Larry Graham?
Missing Billy Sheehan in this
I would argue that Primus – My Name is Mud & Faith No More – The Real Thing should be on this list as well.
I don't know if this is rock, but the bass sounds on the ABBA songs.
Chris Squire, the best!!????????
