Best CK bass line ever: Games People Play, Mel Torme
Did she actually write those bass lines herself?
It's not an overstatement to say that John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin took note from her. Maybe he didn't know who she was or know it was actually her in the beginning but I bet he took influence in a lot of her style, you can hear it in much of his iconic bass lines.
In fact I'd be willing to bet Carole herself could play the bassline of one of Jones' showcases, The Lemmon Song.
❤ Wrecking Crew’s most unknown known sound.
Beatles cite Good Vibrations as their inspiration. It’s a network of coconuts, contextual metas.
Reminds me of Rick Beato – but with direct awesome playing to inform. Hope you do more.
This video answered my search directly. Thank you. So many secrets for the patriarchy that are now at the YouTube-search level. Thx.
Wichita Lineman- Glen Campbell because this was the first song where I heard the bass guitar so prominent, as a young child! So smooth, reminds me of 8 track tapes!

Any idea where I’d see an instruction video for Feeling alright?
I grew up in the 60's, this was my music. Good Vibrations blew my mind! Just recently found out Carol did that incredible bass line that I think she came up with, and then she did Cher and Motown! She's awesome!
She is just great!❤️
Great videos as ever Julia. Did she always use a pick?
You missed out Kojak ! Superb bass part.
Thank you for highlighting those who stay behind the great music!
IMO there needs to be a Carol Kaye movie.
Carol is great!!! I "discovered" her reading about The Wrecking Crew" (there's many videos on YouTube and you can read "The Wrecking Crew" a book by Kent Hartman). From this video I went to my L.P.'s (OK, I'm a n old man) and I notice for the first time that she IS identified as bass player on "Feeling alright", but NOT on "Good vibrations". It is supposed The Beach Boys played is own instruments (but they didn't, I feel kind of cheated). I knew Simon and Garfunkel (like "The Mamas and the Papas") didn't played their instruments (they never pretended so), but to discover The Beach Boys belonged to the same category as "The Monkeys" kind of heart me.
I love all of her work, in particular the stuff she did with Lalo Schifrin. Those colorful, funky grooves are my personal favorite. She's a super nice and encouraging person.
Good Vibrations
Hikky Burr on the Quincy Jones Smackwater Jack album.
Heartwarming.????
Carol Kaye did NOT…write the bass line for Good Vibrations. Brian Wilson, who was a bassist himself, wrote it AND Ray Pohlman is the bassist who played on the final version you hear on the record. Carol played the song during some earlier sessions but was NOT the bassist you hear on the record, Ray Pohlman is! So don't go buying any 'Good Vibrations guitar pics' from Carol, as they're all bogus! *Yes, she has sold NUMEROUS bass pics she claimed were "The One" she used on the recording that she never played on, over the years. Nice person. A real peach. ????
As guitar player: "La Bamba". As bass player: The "Bonanza" theme.
what size pic are you using
I’d rather Carol anyday over that idiot Victor Wooten
This lady playing the bass Is sexy.
Wichita lineman Glen Campbell
