Top Bass Highlights From Namm 2025 That Caught My Attention

NAMM was a blast! Lots of great folks and gear. This vid sums up my highlights. There was plenty more there of course, but this stuff was the most interesting. There was also some software for remote recording, analog gear, and an app for stem seperation there that were very impressive. Let me know if you’d like to see a video on them!

  • Man, it’s so nice to see someone do a NAMM review while away from the showroom floor. A great way to actually hear your thoughts + the vendor interviews. Imma go bug RKM now, bc I want to see that Janek influenced bass review!

  • Great video. Just a small correction to the GK amp section – Class D is not digital. They are 100% analog and use switch-mode or PWM amplification to get much greater power efficiency.

Dave rat did a great video comparing class AB and Class D power supplies in working conditions – from memory other than the efficiency and weight differences, Class D is better at delivering power quickly to transients and AB can handle longer contant output loads. AB also distorts in a more pleasant way.

  • Oh man, the Jones basses… They might play and sound great, but I just can't get over the design of the longscales… That butt-shaped butt… ????

Other than that, really nice and interesting picks, I learned a lot! Never heard about Aristides, awesome concept! Devon already caught my eye, awesome stuff. The SD amp looks really nice, also the Trickfish stuff, and GK for sure (I knew about it before, but nevertheless). And that Grez bass is tasty! Okay, very similar to the Guild Starfire II. Let's see how much it will cost!

  • I definitely would love to grab a double P DS series. That Janek inspired double P looks amazing as well.

  • Great report! The Devon Basses seem very cool!!! I'm seriously considering getting a Dingwall Combustion 6 bass. Why did you choose Aristedes instead of a Dingwall multiscale?

  • Could you get any closer to a fender though in your designs they look like the original fenders to me, But thats a great thing because thats when fender guitars made some sweet basses!

  • I fight against gear acquisition syndrome with all my might. I absolutely love buttons, knobs, lights, design, etc. Thanks for the vid. It feeds the addiction without my actual participation.

  • Those double P basses look pretty cool. Congrats on ordering an Aristides. I'd like a headless multiscale bass from them.
