  • AGREE with you on the OTTO plugin … i was trying this in the procees to BUY it a few months ago… and i realise the NOT updated this plugin for a LONG time ( i mean , noting really new there…). BUT the also INCREASE the price witch are now at 220$ ( of course they ofert almost always a 50% doscount on that … BUT this VERY SAME plugin was 111$ a years prior and was ALSO 50% discount on for a total price of 55$ … So, 55$ for this plugin 3 years ago ; COOL… But For today at 111$ ?? REALLY ? ; nope… and they have double there price !! If one day they adjust the price and update there produce i will probably buy it, but for now ; SORRY , we have soooo many good produce on the market ( i have almost 75% of the the amp sims on the market..), and the last i was bought was THU2 PREMIUM !! … for a 100$ … YES a total of 100$ for the entire Premium library… Some brand need to adjust ; we are in 2025 ! EXEMPLE ? : At this VERY moment i was about to buy JST Dino Ceazares Plugins pack at ""special"" price of : 27$… Yep ; original price for 3 amps + the DI Match is 150$ give me offer at 27$. ????????

  • Fortin is my favorite. Been watching your videos for years and had the Gojira for a long time. Bit the bullet and bought Fortin and Petrucci on Black Friday sale. The gain and tone is unmatched. I still play with the others, but Fortin is still superior!

  • So far, my go to amp sims are Gojira and Fortin Nameless. Gojira has something extra I can add to the gain, but Fortin reminds me of the tube amp I used to use. It just kinda depends on what mood I am to figure out which amp sim to use. I love them both. When I get the money, I do want to try Archtype Nolly

  • thank you for making that video ! i am looking for some new sound and that video really helps me as far as tone is concerned and choosing the right plugin wish i could buy them all at once but currently can't i have a very similar approach when i try to make my own tone i totally get lost i'm tweaking so much that i no longer knows what sounds good 😀 i'm such a lazy minimalist at times and not really into gear and all so i love this video it's really gonna help me decide on buying new products meaning these plugins

  • Thanks for your mention here and repping of II II II II over the past few years Xander with Best amp sim for metal '23, your solo album main tone etc ????. I'll say one doesn't have to update something that's perfect at what it does ????Haha! Technically has been updated as I see you are on 1.0.0 from your screenshot, it's up to 1.7.7 — yeah a tuner is something I had initially no desire of adding as I always use my daw's, never say never for that and other fx. When I built it, I built it to be fully moldable box of tone, hyper focused & all about gain characteristics and fine tuning, so I disagree with you there that it only does one thing, that may be the way you use it, but it has thousands of possible amp permutations, can even do clean, low gain stuff. Grab the update, loads of new presets my dude! To those reading, demo in your room free 14 days, you won't look back ????

  • I dig Amplitube and Tonex for building full rigs. Helix Native is also cool for transferring presets between hardware.

  • You are spot on about the Otto audio 1111
It was one of my first amp sims and from your recommendation. I loved it at first but after trying other amp sims I see its limitations.
Not only that but it gives me a headache lol

  • Personally, I don't like using STL Tones because too me it kinda kills the creativity of Tone Creation.

I like all of the plugins you mentioned, but I think to create a more unique tone is to combine these plugins in your signal chain to make something completely different.

For example: You could Pre EQ going into your plugins, use Gojiras octave pedal, Use Fortins Overdrive pedals, use Otto Audio Amp, EQ plugin, than use a IR Loader to load 3 different speakers and mics, then blend to taste.

Side note: Whatever tone you create in your DAW. You can capture in your Quad Cortex.

  • Fun fact of the Day:

Did you know you can make any amp sound like any other amp of your dreams with just understanding how to gain stage and EQ?

  • Could you do a top 5/10 Impulse Responses?

For those who don’t even know where to start with IR’s, because I’ve become familiar with plugins but I’ve heard IR’s can make plugins sound way better. ???? any advice please!?

  • I record with ur angry setting. Did not even know it was yours to be honest

  • Great choices, and I’ll shout out the ML Soundlab Triple Rectifier plugin, personally. Got that recently, and it crushes and definitely sounds authentic. They have a Friedman plugin I’m dying to try next.

  • This came out exactly when I needed it, have been looking for an amplitube alternative. Thanks for the recommendations!

  • Probably not your style but I recommend the Wavemind ToneSuite – Distant. This thing is incredible. I’m using the eminence dv-77 ir but still, this thing is incredible

  • I like bogren stuff myself, but honestly since Tonex has arrived… haven't had much use for the traditional modeling plugins.

  • You have to try Mercuriall, I have a QC and some plugins, but the best feel I've ever had was from the Ampbox from them, give it a shot you won't regret it!

  • Hey man. You have to check out Mercuriall stuff if you didn't check it yet. I'm sure you will like it! ????

  • If anyone knows the band Nemertines, the producer for that put that sim online for free and it's sick.

  • I love Bias Amp products! Bias Fx2 has my heart, i got such a great high gain tone with the less amount of noise and almost perfect noise gate cut offs. I switch from my iphone for live and band practice and i use my pc at my home studio with my same preset's shared on both.. i did favor Tonex but it's noisy and the Tonex One Pedal is annoying to use and very noisy and the software is a nightmare to navigate.

  • I agree with your choice of the #Fortin #NamelessSuiteX as number one.

I'm not particularly well versed in all the different amp sim offerings, as I really only started using them in the past 2 years.

But, after much research (watching many videos and reading reviews) and a little bit of testing, the Fortin Nameless Suite X appeared to be exactly what I was looking for in an amp sim.

Before I got it last year, I watched a video that did a blind comparison. I was able to pick it out without ever trying it myself.

So far, it has delivered the goods.

Clarity and punch, while offering punishing distortion.

    How about sharing your settings?

  • Great video! Been pondering the whole amp sim route, if i go that way i will definitely take all this information to heart. …..also when is the merch gonna drop?

  • Nameless has always been the “King” for me for Death Metal … until Wavemind Distant came along. ????

  • I have to check myself on the tweaking. I'll sit down with the intent on tweaking. I'll give myself as much time as i need to get the tone i want. I'll go in with a goal, like my intent is to build an 80s glam metal wet/dry/wet rig in my QC, or look for a sweet clean tone, or to build a preset for an extreme metal rig, and I'll work towards that, as long as it takes. Then, I'll have sessions where it is aimed at playing and creativity, so I'll do just that. I'll use whatever preset I already have and don't do any tweaking. It's just for being creative. That has helped me stay focused on what I want to do.

  • I am not a fan of "scooped mids". Also, it's ironic. Dimebag didn't scoop mids as much as folks say.

That said, I love the Neural DSP amp sims. I really enjoyed the Wes Borland STL Tones… except for… the high gain tones were "woof-y".

  • as a wage slave I learned to use what I have and I use the Neural DSP Mesa Boogie for almost everything. But it's not soooo great for lower tunings. Combined with the Ola Engund "Blacked" IRs (in his shop) you're ready to go for a bedroom/garage Metallica cover band

  • the Mixwave Mike Stringer plugin is the absolutely peak heavy plugin. Not because it does heavy the best(it's a close tie with it and fortin nameless x), but because it ALSO does ambients, cleans, and all sorts of unique sounds so well. The added mix controls and contour controls make it even better. Love that plugin so much.

  • Me personally I use amplitube 5 MAX and they took the time to get the real deal names but there are certain ones I know what they are and it’s just my preference if I was using a quad cortex I’d add in a omega granafire and Tim hensons amp suite bc I love LOVE LOVE LOVE high gain but I also love Tim hensons cleans and he use to play tech death and I also prefer the lower gain with a overdrive as a boost

  • I know this is a list for metal but I also want to give a shoutout to NDSP Fortin Nameless X for classic rock. You can get some great Zeppelin tones out of it with relatively minimal tweaking of the presets. It's not the most versatile amp sim but it's far from one-dimensional like it might seem at first.

  • I don’t use amp sim’s but if I ever decide to use them then I will remember to come back to this video mate! Thanks for another entertaining tier list Xander you are an inspiration for me brother and I do appreciate ya mate, so until next time…. Stay safe, Stay metal, and don’t forget to Riff.?! IMO they all sound monsterous!! ????????????????????????????????????????⚡️????
