Bravo!

  • Why not upload your captures to Cortex cloud in stead of using a service which wants to install crap on my pc?

  • I use that pedal trick with any distortion whether it be amps or the quad. Volume up and gain down and sculpt the sound with the pedal as well as with the amp. Good job.

  • Probably not my style of playing but I really appreciate how good this video setup is! Super crisp and colourful ????????

  • Great video and excellent idea – but your first download link goes to a pretty dodgy website.

  • Hi, would you say these are standard settings for any of the high gain amps on the cortex or will the EQ settings you had before and after the amp be massively different?.Thanks

  • Yep, it's an old trick we've been doing in the studio since the 1970's. 😉 I would also add that, if you're actually playing the guitar along with a band or track that includes a bass guitar and kick drum, then you probably don't want to "preserve the bass" as you put it and add all that low end back in at the end of the chain. Listen closely to great rock mixes from the 70's to modern, and you'll find that in many cases, the guitars are actually quite thin, but the mix is setup so that the bass guitar and kick drum take over where the guitar falls off, providing a seamless "tight" bottom end and clarity between the low end instruments vs the low-mid-range of the guitar.

  • Super awesome rad 5000 to the max! I kept trying several other wacky methods to kill the muddy low end, but this does the trick. Thank you!

  • This is a really great vid and it has helped me a great deal. Can I get the same results by using QC's 9 band graphic eq blocks. What settings would you recommend please?

  • This is incredibly helpful, thank you for this!! Also thank you for setting up a preset live during the video. It really helps prove the method works.

  • Awesomw tip! Im managing to get it to work well with a single amp but I normally run stereo (2 5150, 2 cabs, 7ms delay infront of one, and panned left snd right) however im still struggling to get it as tight as good as this in stereo. Tips?

  • This is basically how the old MK-series Mesa amps should be setup. Cut low and some prescence before the gain stage (EQ is pre-gain on those) and brinc the low and bite back with the classic Mesa 5-band graphic EQ (smily face curve).
