Truetone Lounge – Vince Gill

Vince Gill is at the top of his game. He recently completed a 4-night run at the Ryman where he played a three-and-a-half hour show each night, still singing & playing the songs in the same keys, or higher. Gill is some kind of superhero, as artists half his age could barely do this. Today we sit down with Vince, as he shares stories about some of his favorite guitars and a life well lived.

  • Vince, I love you man. Saw the best acoustic show of my life last year with you at the Neal McCoy benefit. Unbelievable. But, and I say this as your brother in Christ man, you’re going down a slippery slope with that wife of yours man. She’s leading millions astray. If y’all believe in Jesus, tell people the truth about him so they can be saved too. Don’t just go along and say “yeah, Jesus loves when we chop ourselves up and change the chemistry within us so we can be someone they aren’t.” If I didn’t care, I wouldn’t say anything. But I fell from the very top to the very bottom, and I don’t want anyone to go through what I have? It’s so much darker than you’d ever imagine, and it takes a seriously concentrated effort to get out. I’m praying for you and your family. There isn’t much time left now. All of the prophecies are going down right now. Love you man

  • Met Vince briefly when he played at Sweetwater in Redondo Beach, CA in the late 70's..I owned the Caribbean Kitchen in the back..met him during sound check..Nice guy very soft spoken..seems he's still the same. Great interview….Plus he's a big pedal steel fan!

  • Great interview, Zac. About gear, in particular. Another great interview was with Joe at Musicians Hall of Fame a few years ago, more about bands and personalities that he had. Both highlight an American treasure!

  • Love Vince, the man is a legend but the most real, down to earth, humble person in the business. He is the reason I have a black guard Tele, it's a modern reissue of course but I love like it was a real 51.

  • This is always one of my favorite YouTube interview shows and this might be the pinnacle of them all. Vince is such a down-to-earth guy, funny, and one of the best all-around artists ever. What a voice and what a player! Thank you so much Zac for this great hang with Vince talking all things guitar. Maybe revisit this within a year and go thru some of his acoustics. He has some Martins that are old and just incredible. You and Vince are the best!!!!

  • If you look up "class act" or "great musician" in the dictionary, it says "Vince Gill".
