  • This stuff is awful. If I can't hear you at the other end of the room, you're not singing. Compare a guy like John Ames to this. He is singing. This is not singing, it's growling in tune.

  • Thanks for this video. Chest-fry mix is my main bass technique, and it is so helpful to know it's legit. I appreciate you referencing Paul David Kennamer as a success story for this technique. It's encouraging, especially for us baritones who wish they were basses!

I know it's been a while, but if you made another video in the series, I would be thrilled. Very few people explain the process as well. Thanks!

  • I have the invite invalid message when clicking the discord link, does anyone have a current link?

  • Amazing video, this really helped me along.

Also, was wondering if the discord server is still active? If it is, then the invite has expired.

  • Thanks a lot for this video! I had found the beginnings of some of these techniques on my own (e.g. glissando from chest into fry to make the fry sound better), but it's very nice to know these are actual techniques and not just one-off weird things I'm doing to my voice 🙂 And I'm always a fan of having good names for everything, because it makes it easier to talk and think about things, so having words for the different variants of chest-fry combinations is much appreciated. Please keep doing these videos!

  • Hello i just can’t get subharmonics to work on high notes. Ik it can be done. I’m a rock vocalist i wanna mask high notes with subharmonics so they sound low . Could you have any videos on how to get subharmonics and take them higher

  • Great video.

I came here to say that I discovered my chest fry yesterday. I am so happy!

But I have a question. Will it get louder and stronger with time? My B1, A1 and G1 is not that strong.

Edit: I am still improving it. It's not easy to sing in chest fry, especially when the song is faster than normal. Hahaha

But ok. I am enjoying the journey.

  • My tenor is sound like girly that why I hate it and stick to the bass voice. Especially when I hit G and F in bass I can't do it sometime when I sing a song of pop music and etc rather than in my choir I hit it

  • Next time highpass that voiceover track please 🙂

The pops are super annoying. Almost makes one wanna stop the video seriously 🙂

  • Hi Tomi!
I am practicing my fry for some time now but I have trouble finding my fried chest mix. I actualy learned singing subharmonics before trying this, and now every time I go from chest to fry I just keep slipping into subharmonics.
I could be wrong about this, but after hearing some examples I feel like chest fry mix might use fry the same way subharmonics do. With the difference that the fry part is fried chest and the chest part being lower than usual subharmonics.
Can you confirm this or am I completely lost?
Love youe videos and tips! 😀

  • In vocal fry the main sound is made by false vocal folds vibration , 99% of ppl ignore that .
