  • Something to be aware of is some amps have passive tone controls, meaning 12 o'clock is cutting 1/2 the middle (assuming linear taper). Marshall amps tend to be like this.

For those amp, start with all tone controls on 10 and and roll off whatever is too much.

  • Thank you for your in-depth video. Question please : the GM40 delivers quite agressive tones, how do I get more vintage-Marshall-type sounds, a bit softer, but still with lots of gain ? Bit like the JVM OD1-type ? Like on your video. I can't get them at home. Thank you so much

  • I saved your video for future reference. However, I am getting a Fender Mustang amp. These eq are worked out in the pre-created banks or patches right? I will still need this knowledge for my looping Bass/guitar setup through my bass amp. One bass effects chain and one guitar effects chain with a switch. Modulation through amp effects loop with loop pedal on the end.

  • I always look for his videos. Him mentioning "growing up listening to Gilmour" made clear the connection! Thank you Mr. Braun!

  • Close but annoyed fits my entire life in regards to tone. It’s why I play acoustic only now. Perhaps I just needed to adjust the mids more

  • Reminder these tones are for just guitar alone , playing with bass , drums and vocals should give u a better result in different settings

  • There seems to be a guitar with glossy ropseweood in the back. What guitar is that? The blue one. Second from the right on the lower shelf.

  • Makes a lot of sense. I was kind of doing this already. As I noticed when I would mess with my tone on my overdrive it seem like I was pushing the meds up and then dial it back on the clean.
I would back them off, but I’m gonna try to scoop it on the clean now. Thanks for the tip.
Trying to dial in tones on a line 6 pod pedal

  • Great video, thx for the tips, but some fender amps doesn't have the mid Knob…. In this case, how to compensate that, and reach a beautiful tone?

  • Hi their, You are using all advance equipments would you mind using low gears too for same effects ? Most of the us 90% of visitors would want to tune and learn how to get great tones. For me your Gibson clean is far excellent on AMP HEAD. We may need to test these on Fender 10 -20, Marshal 15 or whatever is in entry levels. To sum up, what you're showing 10 % of people would already know as they are pro's and they could have all gadgets what you have. Please don't get offended just suggestions to the ratio of 90 -10. Include very very basics too.

  • This is pretty good compared to other videos however I must ask what if we’re poor and don’t have this mid option?

  • When I try to play like high gain or a lead tone, it comes out of my amp all fuzz if that makes sense. My amp is a Fender Mustang LT25 and it has a bunch of presets, the issue is most of the presets have the same issue where its just a lot of fuzz. Does anyone have a solution to help me out?

  • This was a really good, solid video with no nonsense info. I had just finished watching a "How to get the guitar tones guitarists chase" but the guy was using a Spark amplifier and 7 DIFFERENT guitars!

  • Mids are your friend here! People need to ditch that scooping the mids mentality because they wont be heard in a live setting. Also you want to bear in mind the type of pickup you're using. High output ceramic pickups are naturally quite trebly, so midrange will not only help your leads cut through, but the highs won't sound as harsh.

  • I know this video is over 2 1/2 years old, but any chance you happen to know what you had the Vol & Gain knobs at during these different settings? Kind of curious about the Presence and Resonance controls settings as well.

  • On my DSL100H i like to have the Volume and Gain for the lead channel at around 7, Bass at 6, mids and tone at 10. Just the most badass Sound on the planet paired with a greenback loaded 1936 Lead 2×12
