For overdrive/fuzz I set both volume and tone to 10. For cleans and all other effects I set volume to 10 and roll off the tone between 6-8. I love the p bass tone more than any other pickup style. Just hits so dang hard
On a P bass the different kinds of strings and using (or not) a foam mute shape the sound a lot. I’ve been stuck in a finger style rut my whole life but I’d love to learn thumb muting and pick playing. Pick on P bass is awesome, check You’re the one that I want (Grease) played by David Hungate of Toto.
I like the tone rolled off all the way.
None, I find P-basses are too limited in tone and sound flexibility…give me an H-H active setup….my modulus Quantum 4, or my custom fretless Attitude bass I had built…
