What was your first acoustic guitar?
You dont know how old you were 20 years ago?
Thanks for this vid. I have to admit I've been lazy with my acoustics. Yamaha, Breedlove, Martin and Taylor's, so far so good. But my Carbon Fibre Rainsong is the best, in a humidified case or laying in the grass out beside the fire pit, it's a rock !
One year I played detroit on news years eve, then my next gig was on st simons island georgia on jan 2nd. when i pulled out my 335 to set it on stage, the strings were laying on the fretboard and it was unplayable. I pulled out a trusty les paul to play the gig with, but by showtime my 335 was coming back around. I played the 335, and with the low action it was high on my list of favorite shows i have played. The thing was slinky
Gretsch Rancher G5022. It's okay, but i bought it for the look… it looks way better, then it sounds.
I went shopping for nothing but a Hummingbird. I had never played a Taylor until i picked up the 324CE. Unreal guitars and nothing i have ever plugged in acoustic wise has ever sounded like a Taylor. Fast forward a month and i bought the exact twin to the 324 i already had.
Is that deep river blues? Sick
Speaking of humidity and wood, we had a water leak at our house with gorgeous hardwood floors. They buckled up all over the place. We were paid the money to repair it (thousands) but we just waited a year and the wood sat back down. Ta-dah.
I have a Takamine EF350MHC and it is exquisite. (MHC stands for master hand crafted.) Tone and resonance are amazing. I've also played Martins that cost 4K or 5K that don't sound as good and the action isn't as good. And, yes, I had to shave the saddle a smidge on the Tak. That doesn't mean I like EVERY Takamine, but this one is transcendent.
I’m switching to play electric guitars. Acoustic are too high maintenance instruments.
I have a Breedlove concert guitar. I’m pretty impressed with it. I do leave it out on a stand. I probably should keep it in the case more often.
Hi is a mahogany top acoustic good or ?
Oh, to have that thumb
I've been playing a Taylor 710 LTD for the last 20 years and it gets better every time I pick it up. Banjo players ask me to back off a little so they can be heard.
Thanks! I was lucky in that I had a good friend that taught me the cowboy chords in high school. He told and showed me the things discussed in the vid.
Outside of a few parameters that are non negotiable on any guitar most of this stuff is completely objective …
I wish you’d touch on how much the cutaway matter. I like access to high frets but not at the price of sound quality
I have a recently purchased Fender acoustic and to be honest, I'm disappointed. Thanks for the great video and good quality acoustics are harder to find and I appreciate your insights and should I buy another acoustic I will use your recommendations to help my decision
Wouldn't you be able to shave the bottom of the bridge, to get more saddle height, before taking off the neck?
My friend has a lawsuit Takamine that's nicer than any Guild i've played. It's a jumbo 12 string, with spruce top, and maple neck, back and sides. Ebony fretboard, gold tuners, black headstock, and nice binding. It's loud as you might expect.
It has Takamine, spelled just like Guild, with the arrow design. They could clone products, better than anyone in the world.
I have a Taylor 214ce plus. There's a stringbuzz on it that I think caused by the saddle. Or at least changing the string height or neck bow doesn't have an effect on it. It's unlucky because other than that I really love the instrument.
414ce Taylor 1st acoustic I bought. My Dad gifted me his custom 74 Dove. I'm very grateful ????. I still own the Dove. Looking to buy one of the rosewood 414ce 's soon.
6:21 wow. I have one of those. Excellent fine guitar.
I have a Yamaha F335 that I think sounds fine. It’s definitely good enough for a beginner like me!! I’m not a guitarist yet, but I am a musician, so I know enough to store my guitar in its gig bag when I’m not playing it.
First acoustic a Seagull S6 dreadnaught with a cedar top. Don't know if still produced, maybe. Martin silk & steel strings, and NOTHING sounds like this, especially fingerpicking. My take.
