  • Too bad it does.not really answer the question. I can use the third instead of the root note but I'm stuck at what to thonk exactly. Should I be pver-cerebral and figure out where to go next in advance while not getting lost in the chord changes or should I simply listen to the music on my head while trying not to sound too out?
Soloing is very overwhelming to me.

  • Daric, came across your channel month or two ago. Instantly slapped that subscription and rang that bell. Still coming across your videos. Though I often have my bass in hand for some videos, often it's just the concepts I can do whenever. Really quality lessons. Your material is a bit more intermediate on theory than most, but I like theory and not over my head. Keep it up.

  • Hey Daric , the more I play bass the more I love it. But this is a little crazy: I have found that the bass actually helps me to play it. Does that sound like I've been skipping my medication? Seriously, one day I just got it, that my bass wants me to play it to both (!) our satisfaction. Can a bass guitar feel the love we have for it? I have no doubt about it. Love your bass and it will love you.

  • Awesome lesson Daric! Hey Im a member of the bas nation! I was wondering is this the same concept as substitutions? Im playing in a trio with a keyboardist thatll play these substitutions like a major over a minor etc. Im lost but it sounds so good that I have to get that into my playing.

  • Thanks! This is the most down-to-earth explanation I've heard so far on how to apply music theory in the actual playing of, you know, music :-).
