  • Really terrific review. I learned a ton. Thank you! A couple of quick questions; what is the "silent stage" that you mentioned? Does that mean there's no monitor? And do you have an in-ear monitor system that you'd recommend?

  • Some interesting opinions. None of these LR Baggs options sound particularly natural or woody to me. Onboard pre-amps are practical for live and band, but the sound they produce is not very acoustic, especially undersaddle or under bridge. The under saddle "piezo" effect actually makes me a bit nauseous after a while – just sounds zingy and artificial. I've opted for all passive humbucking soundhole Pups. Sending a low ;ine-level signal avoids that immediate linear piezo compression, so the sound is more pure when it hits an external EQ and/or compression, then amplification.

  • I expected the M1 Active to (or magnetic pickups in general) to work much better for strumming than for fingerpicking – as you said.
But I found that at least in my OM-model the strumming sounds pretty thin and lackluster while the fingerpickings sounds surprisingly good.
I guess it depends a lot on the guitar as well.

Other than that the Anthem is definitely one of the best options you can get – it's no suprise that most high quality guitars that come with a pickup do have these installed.
You're very flexible with the mixing to adapt to the guitar, your playing style and the surrounding.

  • This is the most annoying product advertisement I’ve seen in a while. Also, I don’t care how you try to gussy it up, a piezo pickup will never sound like an acoustic guitar is supposed to sound, enjoy the built in plastic emulator that comes with you guitar I guess.

  • I love my Fishman Mic/Pickup blend systems ! Super versatile for different performance situations! Ended up liking Fishman over LR Baggs

  • Is the guitar sound direct or are you getting bleed from whatever mic is picking up your voice?
