  • How would you compare in terms of sound quality and quality in general with your Classic Vibe 70s walnut bass ?

  • The GREATEST improvement and benfit of this series of Yamaha BB basses is the fact that you can now install aftermarket pickups.

The major achilles heel of all BB basses was that Yamaha designed their pickups with their stock design-only components that never allowed you to swap out

the pickups with aftermarket upgrades without making some drastic alteration to the pickup cavity on the body………….The pre-amp still needs work, but it's tolerable.

  • 2 favorite things about this video; the yellow block at the bottom right corner gives us a constant read on the settings. But also, you played the same lick over and over. Too many people change the sound and then they change the lick so you are robbed of a back-to-back comparison. I never understood that.

  • I have a small collection of nice entry level bass. I like to see the wood grain in all I choose. I like this one for the look, feel, playability, sound. It seems like a quality instrument.

  • I bought a BB234 to learn to play bass at church. I never really knew how to differentiate between the 2 pickups, so I have just been rolling both of them to about 90-95% and setting the tone midway. Close enough I suppose. It is also the first guitar I ever did a setup on. Bought the tools, found some YT videos and it wasn't that difficult. Plus my bass played better. Maybe I'll buy a fret file and clean up the fret ends.

  • Awesome review. ????????????????I own a Yamaha bb235(5-string version) in a black finish and it is phenomenal. Especially with a set of stainless steel strings. I also own 2 Yamaha trbx basses and they sound killer too. Yamaha makes such phenomenal bass guitars. I highly recommend these basses for any genre. Including metal. ????????

  • What's the weight? How are the tuners? You mentioned sharp frets, but nothing else about the setup. I wish more reviewers put the basses through some overdrive since I really want to play rock and metal. How does the Yamaha BB234 fare with some dirt? Also, Yamaha TRBX174 vs BB234?

  • 1977. Woahh. Very old school. Love old Japanese stuff. Do they still make the BB at home in Japan? Or have they sent it overseas? Is that why it’s thinner than the original?

Do you like ceramic pick ups? Or do you prefer other pickups? What’s your favourite colour. Thanks for answering and cheers to you Jumi
