  • I feel like every Ibanez bass I've heard has this dull, muted sound to it. The Yamaha has more character to it, in both sound and looks.

  • I love natural wood guitars. I have a Yamaha Pacifica 112v in natural wood finish, and I've been really tempted to get this exact bass to match it. At that price, it's almost a no brainer, but they do a much nicer version, though it's 2.5x the price

  • I’m glad you did the comparison with the Ibanez because the Yamaha definitely sounds way better! Now i know which one to buy!

  • I love it! What a great “tell it as it is/no bs” video. I’m a guitarist too and, like you, have the same attitude to bass. Our band has an upright bass player but she can’t always make it to gigs. Luckily we’re folk orientated so can make do without bass but some tunes just need the bass drive so I’m looking for a cheap bass for the occasional stand in. The Yamaha seems to tick the right boxes in my lowly opinion.

  • I also play guitar (sort of) and want to dabble with a bass. My reason, though, is worse than yours. I was on an online auction site and picked up a killer deal on a 200 watt 2×12 bass combo amp… so now I "need" a bass.
At least right now, auction sites do not have similar bargains on basses, so I have started looking at new. The Yamaha is $40 US more than the Jackson Spectra JS2… I'm trying to talk myself into the Yamaha.
