Zoom LiveTrak L6 Mixer & Recorder – My first personal impressions (english language video)

[German video here: https://youtu.be/hj82D8oO7Dg]

In this video I tell you about my first impressions of the new Zoom LiveTrak L6 mixer and recorder. After unpacking, I show you the connections and describe the most important functions for me, with the advantages and disadvantages that I came across, also in comparison to my L12. A few keywords: unboxing, connectivity, functions, software note, recording, playback, overdubbing and more.
Sorry for the bad english. By the way, I do know the difference between buttons and knobs… šŸ˜‰

I paid for the device with my own money and purchased it for my private use. The video reflects my personal opinion and experience and has not been influenced by Zoom or anybody else.

  • I have a problem with my synth mixer, maybe you can tell me if this one acts the same. My mixer has an effects send and receive as typical. My problem is the effects are added to the channel so if I am using say a ping pong trem effect I get 100% of the dry signal and a percentage of the effects (don't know what that percentage is). So what you end up with is mud pretty much. I don't want to put effects boxes on all my channels, who can afford that? So I bought another little mixer for just my keyboards and run that into my effects then back into one channel on the OG mixer. Thanks for the video, tho not too interested in how it works for recording, more interested in the live aspect.

  • Overdub, if the sound pads record the main outs, then play back the soundpad and record to overdub ?

  • Really appreciate all your work on this video. The only additional question i have would be: Does it work well as an audio interface for the computer. My audio interface is VERY old (toneport UX2) and i need to replace it with something modern. I stream on twitch and while doing game streaming with external console capture works great on my old mac, i have issues when i stream music production session during which the audio will simply stop streaming and i have to relaunch my software to get the audio streaming again. I also am looking at audio interfaces for the more traditional use cases. Anyway, i do dawless and hybrid and might be setting up my first few gigs in 2025 so this new mixer might be just for me if it can thrive in all these roles. Thank you again for the video.

  • Thank you for doing an English version Rainer. Very helpful ????. I find I'd be better off just getting a dedicated mixer but that's just down to my personal needs. Hope you find it to be useful in your set up despite the issues.
Edit: if you decide you want something else with a similar foot print and great overdubbing capabilities, I'd suggest the Tascam DP-008 EX. No midi internal clock but it's so easy to use.
