  • So, a preamp and a power amp is called an amp head. Is he talking about a power amp Sim? If so, that is not a necessary component.

  • do you run a speaker wire from a power amp to a cabinet ? But if I were to plug the power amp into a cab sim I'd use a instrument cable?

  • What would be the best to swap between playing guitar through a gt 1000 and doing vocals through? Cab or PA? What would be some good recommendations? Only one I've been told so far is the Line 6 212. Is there anything better than that?

  • I have a Zoom g2.1u, can I connect it to a FRFR Speaker since my amp is damaged?

  • All completely unnecessary. I've been playing my guitar through a Zoom G1 direct to PA through a standard guitar lead for years. No problem and sounds great. If PA doesn't take a jack, you just go through a DI box to convert to XLR, a cheap passive DI will do.
I can and have bought and sold anything I want but I cannot find anything that sounds as good as the G1. Crazy I know. They're like a tenner on ebay!
Remember it's in the ears not the gears

  • my question is pertaining to a "Live Pa Direct" situation… Why would you need a "Power amp" if you were running straight to FOH? you'd be sending them a powered signal and you could blow up their board… I think the "Lingo" for this digital revolution is causing some communication issues. I'm trying to figure out what I need to use my pedal board with out an amp, live, plugged direct into pa without an amp on stage… what tools would I need to add to my board to make it happen?

  • The only problem is your guitar is going to sound as good as the house p.a. .. pass..

  • If my preamp pedals have cab sim, can I run them into a power amp and still have the sim work? The power amp wont mess it up?

I have the Joyo sound pedals, and just want to run them into a power amp, into a PA/keys amp. Will that work ok?

  • This was great! I am getting back to guitar and want to go straight from pedalboard to mixer/PA. I do not need a power amp, since I do not want to go to a speaker cabinet. Is there one or two pedals which would be good for this? Thanks!

  • It’s interesting that so many people are so opinionated against using modelers and a straight recording setup.

I for one embrace all the new tech available. As a young player with a low budget, it sucked having to scrimp and save to buy a half decent amp setup and be limited to whatever tone you could get from that and your collection of pedals. Then lugging all that gear to practice or gigs. And if you ever wanted to record it required a whole other subset of gear that was also very costly for the average consumer back then.

In the amp days, your budget decided a lot in your progress as a musician. With all the free tools, learning and equipment out today people can learn and develop their sound without being restricted by whether they could afford a huge collection of gear or not.

  • Don’t get me wrong. This is cool. But I’ve showed up and drowned out a 100 watt line 6 rack mount POD with my little 15watt blues JR
